So I played my first game tonight in the Games Workshop stores Company Commander Tourney.  It was against a nicely present Vostroyan guardsman army.  4 chimeras 4 squads of guardsman a command squad, Plasma Sentinal and a tooled up Leman Russ.

The Impy Gaurd won the roll and went first.

I lost the truk on turn 1, but a ramshakle roll made it limp forward about 6 inches to give the survivors some cover from a ruin.  The truk boys went to ground and suffered through a hail of fire for a couple of turns to come back into the fight to take out a Chimera full of guardsmen, eventually wiping them out in combat on turn 4.

The looted wagon went flat out and screamed forward 25' and got wrecked on turn after loosing hullpoints.  So the Meganobz still got into the fight fairly early. They pileed out of their transport to face a round of fire only to loose a wound on 2 different Nobz.  One Nob skorched all but the IG warlord who then challenged Mad Doc in combat while one Nob powerklawed a nearby Chimera.  Mad Doc lost a wound but easily took out the Warlord.

The Dakkajet arrived on turn 2 and took out 2 x 10 men gaurdsman squads over 2 turns and then failed to penetrate the Sentinal on turn 4.

My big mob with the warboss came under fire from Mortars and a Leman Russ Battle cannon and numerous Chimeras but survived with enough in tact to take out the Russ on turn 3.  Although the boss wasn't fast enough to get to the Russ but encouraged the boys from the back of the pack.

The Sentinal must have had targetting problems although it contributed to the loss of the looted wagon, it's Plasma cannon scattered on top of itself causing a penetrating hit and wrecking the walker on the IG turn 4.

At the end of turn 4 the only surviving guardsmen were 2 empty Chimeras so my opponent conceded before the remaining boyz finished them off.

It was a Victory Points game so if we had played on I would have had 10+ VP as well as Linebreaker and Slay the Warlord.  My jet would have flown off on turn 5 which would have left it off the table and counting as a VP for my Opponent.  With my 2 transports gone that would have been 3 VPs for him only.

I'm pleased with the result but am surprised how much of my stuff still survived.  The trukk mob was only left with the Nob and I'd lost about 18 boyz in the big squad and 1 Skorcha meganob.  I really thought I'd only have the Meganobz left at the end but some poor rolling from the guardsmen lost them the game.

Orks at 1000pts might be viable.

Sounds like a great game! Silly Sentinal blowing it self up, that will crack me up for a while. You have a really solid army there so it is no shock you did well, and you are a good player too.

Glad everyone had fun, Just sad that there is more games going down that I can not get in on. (Damn Wedding)

Please post your next games as well.

2nd game of the tourney was a loss to the Orks.
They fought well but just couldn't inflict enough hurt.

This game was against Grey Knights.
2 x 5 man Paladin squads, Lord Draigo and a Dreadnaught.

My opponent seized the initiative and went first.  He popped my trukk with his dread so the boys jumped out and hid behind the wreck.  His Paladins shot at the boys but only killed a couple and destroyed the weapon on my looted wagon.
I drove the Looted wagon flat out towards his line and the big boyz squad backed with Mad Doc Grotsnik lumbered towards his forces shooting and wounding 1 Paladin.

Next turn his wrecked my looted wagon but only after shooting and then assaulting it.  Leaving the Meganobs and Warboss unhurt.  Mad Docs mob came under fire loosing another 4 boys.

In my turn the Dakkajet joined the fight and after a Waaaagh! was called managed to kill off 1 Paladin and wound Lord Draigo.  My big mob of boys shot and then assaulted one squad of paladins while the meganobs flamed the other squad with Skorchas scoring a couple of wounds.  I assaulted both squads, the big mob winning combat with the Paladins rolling to fight-on but the meganobz lost and failed their leadership test to flee.  

In his turn he chased after the meganobz and finished them off.  The big mob fought on inflicting a few more wounds and drawing combat.

The Dakkajet shot at Draigo and his Paladin squad causing another wound but not really making a big dent.  The trukk boys sneaked out from behind the truck to take pot-shots at Draigo to no effect.
The big mob with less strength only managed to get the Paladins down to 2 models.  Loosing the Mad Dok to a Force Weapon.

His next turn Draigo, his Paladins and the Dread joined the big fight and cut down the remaining boys.

With only the Trukk boys and the Dakkajet left the boys hunkered down on one objective and the Dakkajet being unable to target any enemies flew towards the back of the battlefield.


I followed my plan of attack but just couldn't inflict enough wounds on the Paladins for them to fail their 2+ armour and 3+inv saves.

At the end of the game I had the Dakkajet and 4 Trukks boys left.  The boys held one objective with a paladin squad holding another.  Having lost my Warlord and my opponent scoring first blood he won on points.

We both agreed it was a good game.  The one thing that made it hard for me to win was the force weapons causing instant death on my multi-wound models.  Orks really need some Eternal Warrior options.

2+ Armour and 3+Invo saves can be hard for any army to work through but ever harder for orks.

It is better to of tried and failed then to never of tried at all, happy it was a good game for both sides.

Played again on Friday night.  This was against a new guy running Tyranids.

I was a bit worried out his army as the orks have a similar assault play-style.

He had 4 x large squads of Genestealers a small squad of guants, a carnifex and a Hive Tyrant with guards.

I went first and moved everything forward, shooting the trucks big shootas at the Carnifex scoring 1 wound.  He popped my truk with his Tyrant so the boys got out and got ready to assault next turn.

Turn 2 I moved my 30 boys forward and rolled 62 dice on one genestealer squad killing the broodlord and 2 Genestealers.  My truk boys scored another wound on the Carni and the Dakkajet dropped half a squad of genestealers.  The meganobz piled out of the looted wagon to launch an assualt at the Hive Tyrant.  The wagon itself skorched the gaunt squad down from 10 to 4 gaunts.  Meganobz assualted killing the 3 hive guard and wounding the Tyrant.  My big boy mob failed their assault roll and got ready to receive the assualt instead.

Over the rest of the game the big boys squad fought on each turn to slowly get massacred, the hive tyrant took out the truk boys in quick fashion with the Dakkajet finishing of the tyrant.

It was up to the Meganobz and Mad Doc Grotsnik to slowly cut their way through the Tyrant and the left over Genestealers to finish off the last model by shooting it in the back as it ran away.  

A solid win with me gaining 7 victory points and slay the warlord and line breaker, with my opponent having 4 VPs and first blood.
